Annual Ibis Charity Food Drive benefits Palm Beach County Food Bank
The Club at Ibis residents came together Sunday to help those less fortunate. All items donated help support the Palm Beach County Food Bank.
A constant line of vehicles filled with bags of groceries made drop-offs between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. inside the parking lot of Club Ibis. Volunteers assisted with loading and sorting all the donations. Rick Carpenter with Club Ibis said the community’s support continues to grow every year.
“Today the need is greater than usual. Last year we had an impact from Hurricane Irma and the need was great last year because of that catastrophe. There are many people in need that wouldn’t previously ask for help,” Carpenter said.
The Palm Beach County Food Bank provides access to nutritious food for more than 100,000 people every month. The food bank procures approximately 5 million pounds of food annually from grocery stores, restaurants, food distributors and wholesalers. The Palm Beach County Food Bank programs reaches families, school children and seniors and connects those in need to resources.
