You'd be hard pressed to find a more competitive South Florida tennis event than the National Father Daughter Clay Court USTA National Championships. The Club at Ibis in West Palm Beach hosted this event that included fathers, the oldest in his 80's, and daughters as young as 11 years old. It's a competition that creates an very interesting dynamic on the clay court .

"He was talking really loud," accused Jordan Fenton, as her father J.R. laughed to himself. "It was just telling (our opponents our plan) because he was talking so loud."

"Sometimes the father is coaching the daughter, and sometimes the daughter is coaching up to the father," says tournament coordinator, Director Of Sports at Ibis Golf and Country Club Chuck Gill. "Every now and then you'll see some clashes, but for the most part it's terrific fun, and everybody is enjoying themselves."

But things do get serious as the players compete for their USTA gold balls, the competition also counts towards the players' national rankings.
