UPDATE FROM OUR GENERAL MANAGER

Dear Hills Members,

A very proud shout out to Aquatics Director and Hills Hurricanes swim team Head Coach Shad Wojtala. He has been nominated by his peers as one of only three finalists for the 2023-24 Coach of the Year at the annual PacSwim Awards. Specifically, Shad was nominated in the category of Age Group Coach of the Year. Winners will be determined by coaches-only voting and will be announced at the Awards Banquet on October 12th. Congratulations on your well deserved nomination, Shad!!!

On Friday, 10/25, we will be hosting our annual Halloween Party. The club will close at 4pm that day in order to set up. We will reopen at 6pm and the party concludes at 9pm. This is a MEMBERS ONLY EVENT. Please understand that this party is always highly attended and therefore we cannot accommodate guests/non-members.

For those planning to attend, we highly encourage walking, carpooling, or taking rideshare as a means to come and go. Similar to our most recent Halloween parties, we will have a valet service for those who elect to drive. Be prepared to pull into the lower lot and a valet attendant will give you a ticket and park your car in the upper lot.

Should you decide to bring your own food or drinks, we strongly enforce the no glass policy, so please bring beverages in cans or insulated cups/tumblers. Broken glass anywhere near the pools would put a big damper on the party.

Speaking of the pools, they will be closed during the party as well as the hot tubs and the splash pad. The focus will shift to carnival games, a photo booth, popcorn machine, music, dancing and much more so plan on a fun-filled night!

Our costume contest is one of tne of the biggest highlights of the party for both children and adults. I'd say a good 80% of members attending last year were in costume. Let's outdo that this year; I'll be in full costume myself. 🙂

The men's sauna is reopened. We had to repair the sauna heater because someone poured water into the heater which destroyed the heating coils. I cannot stress this enough, please
DO NOT EVER POUR WATER ON THE SAUNA HEATERS.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Halloween Party. Let's make sure it is a safe and very fun evening for all who attend!

-Nick

What's Happening in The Hills Pilates and Wellness Studio

img

Happy October to all and especially to our Hills Members who have been affected by breast cancer in any way.

As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Every day, new research and added treatment options make a breast cancer diagnosis less dire. Still, even with a good prognosis and the best medical care, breast cancer treatment is disruptive, painful, and can have life altering side effects.

At The Hills and in the Pilates Studio we offer specialized Pilates training for breast cancer patients and survivors through the Pink Ribbon Program. Regular exercise and movement using Pilates is scientifically proven to lessen the effects of surgery and treatment and it can also help reduce stress and anxiety.

We also offer Reiki therapy in our tranquil studio space. Reiki is a subtle, yet powerful energy medicine method used in many cancer centers to reduce side effects, boost the immune system and to promote healing.

Contact our Pilates and Wellness Studio today to learn more about our supportive programs and to schedule an appointment: [email protected]

Happy Halloween from The Hills Pilates and Wellness Studio!

More Personal Trainers to help build your fitness

Welcome Ilene Grossman to our personal trainer team!

img

Ilene has been active her entire life, and although personal training was not her first career, it was always a dream of hers. She was able to fulfill this dream later in her journey. She became a NASM certified personal trainer in 2005, but took a short break for a business adventure. Throughout her time training, she has witnessed the different things that motivate people to exercise. As people mature in their lives, Ilene believes that the incentives for exercise change and become more functional in nature.

In 2022 Ilene had a serious bicycling accident. It was clear that the work that she had done to develop a strong physical condition prior to the accident was what helped her to recover as completely as she did; proof of how important it is to keep our bodies in the best shape possible at any age, but particularly as we grow older. We need to continue to develop our strength, balance, and flexibility throughout our lives to allow us to fully function and enjoy all aspects of life.

Ilene welcomes the opportunity to meet you at whatever place you currently are in your physical life and would love to help you remove any limitations that you may have to exercise. Just like our other personal trainers, she will set realistic and achievable goals and a plan to attain those goals.

If you are looking to work with a personal trainer here at The Hills, please reach out to any one of our trainers listed below. They will all help you build your confidence and build your fitness!

Players of all ages and skill levels can participate in pickleball, making it a sport that brings people together. Pickleball also offers a fun and low-pressure environment, where players can interact and connect with each other while getting some exercise.

Our sport court is reserved exclusively for pickleball from 11am-1pm Monday through Friday. All you need to do is show up! You'll meet and play with our weekly pickleball group. If your schedule is open during this time, stop by for some friendly competition. All ages and levels are welcome.

Members can book a 1-hour reservation per membership per day. If you don't have your own equipment, you can ask the front desk staff for the pickleball bag (complete with paddles and balls).
